Bushing?

Hi guys, so I’m in the process of an auto to manual swap in a1983 el Camino and not surprisingly running into issues.

1) I figured what speedo gears I needed and put them in the trans . The trans mission is still on my bench. When I removed the wire harness for the cruise control I noticed the speedo cable from the speedo goes into some sort of controller and the cable from the trans also goes into the same assembly but it looks like there might be some sort of reduction gear in there. Will that throw off what I figured I needed for the speedo drive gear? Do I need to run a new cable directly from the trans to the gauge?

2) the hole in my new clutch pedal for the clutch push rod is to big . I’m thinking it needs a bushing but I can’t find any info on that. I tried to rework a door hinge pin bushing but I’m not happy with how it came out and I’m getting to fat and old to be climbing under the dashboard so I'd like to do it right the first time and not have to do it again.

Any help with either problem would be appreciated

Thanks

Where did you get the clutch pedal from? Aftermarket, NOS, used? There is no bushing in the factory setup in anything I can find.

The pedals are aftermarket. The place I got them from can’t help. I can find a bushing for a Camaro but I’m not sure it will fit hopefully I will find out today. If it does fit I’m wondering if I should drill out the holes in the z bar and put bushings there also. The Camaro bushing is some sort of plastic.

I went to a few hardware stores and auto parts stores and couldn’t find a good fitting bushing so I ended up making my own bushing out of a piece of nylon.

I have an extra clutch pedal that has the typical oval pressure worn hole that I need to bore or file out to slightly bigger hole that will get an oilite bushing with an O.D. no bigger than the rod end to give what I hope is a long term self lubercating life compaired to the "raw dog" O.E. set up that was only lightly lubed on the assembely line & never touched again. I have two complete original sets that need bushed along with some sort of a hard cold filler to fill in the gap left from the oval worn hole after the bushing in installed. At times it might be better to either spend the money on the comlete set of linkage with the eyelet joint or try to be cheap & mod the upper rod for both ends to have them.
