Buyin Local Sucks

I had a 98, the BCM under the dash crapped out, the circuit which ran the alarm would drain the battery. Found a good used one with a reman sticker, lasted about 6 months. Being the cheap SOB I am, (we only paid 500 bucks for the Jeep) I wired in a relay to power up the fuse on that circuit hen the key was turned on. It ran the alarm, windows, dash lights and gauges. No more draw, but you had to use an actual key to lock and unlock it. Oh the humanity! Then there was the time the viscous coupler crapped out in the NP249 transfer case. You can disassemble a 231 part time case and swap over the input planetary and literally bolt it in. Minor mods to the shift linkage and no more full time 4wd. Burnouts galore!

My daughter drives a 96 XJ....replaced the 94 XJ that a neighbor ran her off the road in (rolled over in the ditch, easy roll, but hard on sheetmetal and glass). She swears by them, says it saved her life.

I swear AT it, the crank sensor is in a pretty poorly thought-out place...not a fan of the trans pan/dipstick combination, either.

Mine has been far from reliable, but it is perfect for the roads in my area. I am sure that in a year or so, the only original parts left on it will be the VIN plate and the key.
