because some idiot somewhere decided it would be a good idea to do something patently stupid in direct opposition to common sense, then stupidly sued some company/other person into oblivion and stupidly won. Pretty much everyplace else in the world you do something stupid you get what you deserve for being stupid. Here you get a stupid big payout, and the rest of us get stupid warning labels.

I remember when they started putting the "warning contents are hot"on coffee cups because an elderly woman burned her legs and cleaned up on a lawsuit about not knowing how hot it's contents were..ignorance must be bli$$
