Can anyone tell me how rare this car really is?

I have an all original (but the wheels, working on that little problem) 1985, 442, White, T-Tops, Blue Interior. Everywhere I look, I hear this car is rare! But, I wonder how rare it really is, because I look outside and see one everyday. If anyone, has any info it would be much appreciated.

1986 Oldsmobile 442The 442 name was revived in 1985 on the rear-wheel drive G-body Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The name was now defined as referring to the car's 4-speed 200r4 automatic transmission, 4-barrel carburetor, and 2 exhausts. This W42 model replaced the 1983 and 1984 Hurst/Olds model and used the same 5.0 L LG8 V8. The shifter was mounted on the floor in a console between the front seats, and the upgraded F41 suspension package was included. 3,000 were produced in the first year, and all were sold quickly. 4,273 were produced for 1986, and 4,208 were made in 1987.

The 1984 Hurst/Olds and 1985-87 442 were equipped with an 8.5" GM corporate differential usually with a 3:73 ring and pinion gear. Rather than using the weaker 7.5" rear differential found in the Monte Carlo SS, these models used the same stout unit found in the Buick Grand National.

The 1983-84 Hurst/Olds and 1985-87 442's are distinguishable by there being a "9" as the engine code found in the 8th character of their VIN's. These were the only models to get the hotter VIN 9 307 cubic inch engine, and it was the only engine available. From 1983-1985, this engine was flat-tappet valvetrain, and rated at 180 hp/240 ft·lbf torque. In 1986, the 307 engine received a roller-camshaft valvetrain and new swirl-port heads to improve economy and low-end torque. HP dropped to 170, with torque climbing to 250. The 1985 442 used an OZ code THM 200-4R transmission.

The reason he's asking if it's rare isn't because of it being a 442 like all other 442's. It's the actual color of the car that makes it rare. I don't have the numbers but there weren't that many white 442's produced as compared to black, blue, burgandy, silver, etc.
 
i understand what he was asking, i just dont have my books unpacked yet since the move so i gave the limited info that i could find at the time. should have them unpacked tomorrow and can tell more. hopefully it will have it in it but might not go up that high in years lol it the 2002 all american classics guide and think it goes to 85 but might be 80 so dont know yet lol
 
Thanks guys, I know there were 3000, 442's produced in 85. Supposedly, 500 of those had t-tops, and 400 were white. I keep hearing the blue interior was a rare color, I'm just trying to find the numbers for sure. On my Vette, they almost have the productions numbers down to the ones that a fly crapped on in the assembly process. I was wondering if there was similar type data available for our precious G-Bodies. Thanks for the compliments, the old lady I bought it from had those wheels put on there when the originals started leaking around the bead. Other than trashing the originals I think she made a good choice.

White 442's are only "rare" because it was an '85 only color...
I've seen those production estimates too, but there's know way of knowing for sure because GM didn't keep track.
 
Looks really nice but I wouldn't say it's 100% original.
Someone repainted your car and used the wrong style 442 numbers and didn't install the stripes properly.

It's a rare color but as far as being more valuable... no, it's just a one year only color.
There are 3 within 5 miles of me with gray, claret and blue interiors and GM did not keep production figures for RPO combos but they can tell you how many of one specific RPO was made such as how many came with T-tops for ALL Cutlasses (more common than hard tops on W-42's and W-40's) but they cannot tell you how many 442's came with a specific color interior or exterior or a combination of the two since the RPO's encompass all G47's.
From what I seen the white cars were more common with the Blue or Gray, I've only seen two with Claret in the past 16 years but about ten or so with blue.
Some guy tried to sell me a rusty one for $5000 and another guy wanted $10,000 for one with over 100k on the clock and it was pretty dirty. :rofl: I think they are forgetting it's a G-body.
It really bothers me when people throw out production figures such as 400, 200 or 215 83 H/O's came with Sand Gray interiors, one can only speculate but to use if for capital gain on some sucker is just sad.
 
The 85 has lower production numbers then others. The fact that its white with blue iterior makes it a little more rare but i have never found numbers that say how many were built and with what options. In 85 the 442 only came with blue interior if it was a white car that was the only way it was offered. The fact that its white with blue interior and t top might add some value but how much only depends how nice it is. In 85 the 442 came in 3 colors grey black and white. You could get claret grey and blue interior colors in the 85 442.
