Ive been trying to answer that question also for about 2 years.
Basically ive come to this- 500-600 white 442's were produced about half had t-tops so figure around 300
My car has grey interior, t-tops, power windows/locks.. Im guessing thats basically all the options

Of how many were actually produced figure about half were wrecked, flodded etc etc.
So that would leave about 300ish White '85 442's and 150ish with t-tops..
Id say weve got pretty rare cars =D

Yes, I have a 1985 white Olds 442 with t-top and grey interior. My 85 is one of less than 200 that were shipped to Canada.
I agree its the white colour that makes it a bit rare.

I just want to know what happened to that bad-*ss Buick that was sitting next to the 442 in that picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

been down this road before.................I got a 1985 salon (which was what you ordered.. with the W42 package) to get a 1985 442. I sent my VIN to GM canada, and for 60 bucks they give you a package of paperwork with info about your car...options engine specs, copies of dealer specs n stuff. so if you have not done that start there. my paperwork lists my 1985 salon as one of 1,437 made for CANADA.....1 of 298 with T Tops (CC1).......and one of 44 in the color burgandy metallic (79).
now I know that canadian plants kept better records than the US plants, but if ya don't got that package.....get it.

So...................figuring that 3000 85 442'S were built, and 200 came to canada to be retrofitted with KPH speedometers......that leaves 2800.......and figuring the 3 color styles, if ya split it three ways.........thats about 930 cars. do a little adjusting and consideration for all the black/silver and silver/argent cars ya see way more of, and factor in the T tops...........i am sure the number would be under 500 cars. if they offered more paint color styles your odds would be better as in my case they offered 12 paint color choices.
so I am thinkin that you can be pretty sure that your car is at least one of only 500 or 600 cars. I have followed G-bodys in canada since they came out in 85, and i have never seen a white 1985 442 in person. my friend has black/silver 85 442, and has some canadian paperwork. I will check it out and see if it has the same info on numbers as mine and let ya know what i find out..................

if ya wanna see my 85 salon paperwork here ya go

Not specific to this car, just a note. Don't put very much reliance on what GM literature says, this stuff was subject to change with an edict to the plant, dealers, etc... and may never change the literature or even the dealer's order info. The dealer often wouldn't know of a change or mistake until they tried to order something that wasn't available even though their info said it was. Believe it if you see it and the build sheet backs it up, reading, even in factory literature, means zero!

That's my buddy's GN, he had to one up me after I bought the 442!

I just want to know what happened to that bad-*ss Buick that was sitting next to the 442 in that picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/quote]
