can you convert parts from straight column to tilt

I have a straight column in my car and also have a tilt column that has been stripped of all the parts. I would like to use the tilt and was wondering if anyone has tried to switch parts form one to the next? Not really concerned about the gear select mainly electrical. Thanks

as far as I know they both use the same parts. Whenever I have ordered parts for my column they never ask if it is a tilt or non tilt. unless of course if I am asking for parts related to the the tilt. I don't know if you have a book or a link but this is about the best I have seen about rebuilding a tilt column...

Thanks for posting that. That is by far the best, most comprehension information I've ever seen explaining the assembly/ disassembly of a GM tilt column. I bookmarked it for future reference.
