CAPRICE REAR END

I'm thinking it can be done. I sort of did it once on an 80 malibu sw about 5 years ago. I custom made the upper arms because I think the bbody axle upper mounts were wider. I believe the axle is also 2 or 3 inches wider too. I never got to see how well it worked because i traded the car off. I think someone out there is selling custom rear control arms, but i could be wrong. I suggest trying to hold out for a GN 8.5. Ipicked mine up for$600 and I notice someone selling one every once in awhile.

yes, it will fit if :you modify the upper arms ,and accept the fact that it is aprox. 4" wider needing different offset & backspacing wheels

Width is wrong, suspension geometry is wrong, and the wheel bolt pattern is wrong. You can make anything fit with a big enough hammer (or wallet), but this is not your best choice.

Hey Joe ,i just answered is question 🙂

AR sells a set of wheels made specifically for that swap (rear wheels have 6.5" b/s)

to change the wheel bolt pattern to the correct one costs : $35.00

take it this way: it has nice 31 splines, 8.5" desired hsg , 4 wheel disc brakes ...and for some ,the cost is dirt cheap!

personaly i'm going ford 9" custom made ..but the cost is 4 times what it would have cost me for a big chevy hsg transplant

How are you changing the wheel bolt pattern for $35.00? Are you talkin just re-drilling the axles and drums?

exactly ...take the axles out get them redrilled to the correct bolt pattern & voila !
