Maybe I could just shoot you a picture of the car running which didn't run earlier - or you could just stfu instead. You can come get whatever you need paying cash like anyone else. I'm not giving a damn thing away for free out here, f-----t.

I am going to say this I have read many of your posts and I will admit a few of your posts show some knowledge of certain subject matter but a big majority of your posts leave a most of us with one of two questions "What the heck were you thinking?" and "What does that have to do with anything?"

Ok that's fair. I was just trying to help the guy start his car and to have someone come later and be rude when I just walked in w fresh enthusiasm from finally getting the car running again... Idc w/e someone has to say about 'that doesnt work' or 'thats not the right way to do it' when clearly it did work for my situation I mean the car didn't run and now it runs. I already started it up again twice just to make sure. What is this guy trying to imply I steered my car around in neutral for no reason at all like some kind of f-----t.. or I'm on here making stuff up. I dont have a complete ratchet set right now I'm well aware the correct way to advance the pulley w the ratchet but what could I do I don't have it. There was already people outside waiting to laugh at me until it actually worked and I drove the car. I wonder why people are so willing to pour out haterade and then look horrified when you succeed. Yeah I'm aware not addressing maintenance issues that the car will soon not start again - obviously and I will not get far but it sounded like the OP is kind of where I'm at; putting the car in storage and just needs it to temporarily work for right now. I don't need to get far to put the car in storage... I just need it to work a few times right now and thats it!

pencero, The op said the car would run with quick start spayed in. How you turned a probable fuel issue into a blog about a fusible link is humorous. For you to find that rude is par for the course.

^This. Par for the course indeed. Also, please refrain from using the derogatory term "f-----t". I don't think the moderators or anyone else would like to see you using it here.

The engine fires up if you put starter fluid down the carb and dies as soon as you stop?.
I think that eliminates all electrical issues unless it has an electric fuel pump.
So first step, disconnect the fuel pipe to the carb and crank the engine, No fuel?, it's either the pump or an issue going back to the fuel tank. Got fuel?, it's a carb problem.
Nothing to do with anti theft devices, belts, grounds, fusible links, missing wrenches or the wicked witch.
Carb problems should be easily resolved with help from the good people on this site, checking fuel lines upstream of the pump can get messy. a vacuum pump to suck fuel up might be useful here, You may have a blocked strainer in the tank, or a broken or holed fuel line, possibly even in the tank.
A Buick Century I owned would only run with the fuel tank over half full because the fuel pick up line in the tank had split.

Roger.

Yep I'm agreeing it's gotta be fuel related. The reason I bought up the PAT is because I had read through some threads about these mid-80's anti-theft devices not allowing the car to start, and when I read the documentation on the PAT system that sounded like my situation....though it didn't explain in detail how it kept the car from starting. So kind of a shot in the dark with that one. I am thinking Blake442 might be on the nose there with something to do with the choke. I'll try to get back to the car later this week (it's stored at my shop) and see if I can figure it out :/

haha yes that's what I thought too. Apparently the previous owner had put an el cheapo fuel filter in and it failed. At least it was a cheap fix.
