What is a good carb and intake to put on a 1969 350 rocket? I am going to have a this motor rebuilt and want to put some performance upgrades on it. Can anybody give me some suggestions on what they might do. I am going to bore it 0.30 over. Nothing too much. But if I hit the gas I want it to go and have a nice sound.
Good to see someone close on here. I am in Macon. Do you have the oe Q-jet for that motor? Probably a good one. You will get varying opinions on carbs. Sounds like you are looking for a good street carb. I am planning on a carbed 350 Vortec for my 79 MC. Probably gonna use Jack Mann here in Macon for the Q-jet rebuild/tune. Will be relatively cheap. If it's not enough, can always go Holley, Edlebrock later, 650-750.
I bought mine from a guy named Ted Ardell, owner of Mountain Man Fuel Systems. He has his own shop, and has been in the business for over 30 years. He's a really cool guy, and he will make you a custom carb. I told him the set up that I had, and he found me a core from a '77 Olds. He fitted it with the correct linkage for my '84, and added on an electric choke. He charged me $268 after tax, and shipping. Then I sent in my core and got $45 back. You couldn't buy a better carb for a street car. This guy takes his time, and does your carb right. He is located in Hackett, AR.

personally i like the edelbrock proformer high rise rpm with a holley 650 but it you want get get a bit more bang for your buck id go with the edelbrock air gap rpm and a nice holley double pumper but thats a little pricy. all depends on what your looking for
I would go with an Edelbrock Performer and a Qjet. That intake is designed for low end power and a Qjet will get better gas mileage and make good power. If you want to save some money, the intakes are always on Ebay for $100-150 used.
