Need help. New to carb engines. Bought bar with avs2 installed with a MrGaskets spacer. Car didn’t want to start when I was trying to leave a store and I noticed gas squirting out in between intake and spacer. I noticed that the spacer did not fully cover intake port. I tried a different spacer that was in trunk of vehicle when I bought it since it looked to have covered the port better. Car would start and turn off within ( seconds. Put vacuum gauge to avs port and it read leak at intake. Need help to determine what’s wrong and what I need to correct. Thanks

Those Mr Gasket adapters always seem to have sealing issues in part due to their logo being recessed into the aluminum on a sealing surface.
A better adapter that will fully cover the spreadbore pattern with a little more meat to spare would get you going. A couple of stacked gaskets or the gasket set that has a metal center plate may help seal as well if you notice the old gasket being badly deformed on removal.
The better answer would be to change the intake to a square bore type that would fit the Edelbrock carb without an adapter. Those can be had for about $125 - $150 online and would eliminate potential failure points, while prettying up the engine bay a little bit.

This is the adaptor Edelbrock says must be used with the square bore carb on a QJ manifold. I have one of these and it works fine.
