carb question

I found this tube like thing lying behind the carb it id comingfrom the intake but is not connected to anything but coming out of the back of the car is a tube the is around the same size are these supposed to be connected?

There should be a small sleeve of rubber hose holding those two together.

Ok thanks, I did see a little rubber sleeve laying on the intake but wasnt sure it if went there or not.
