Hey all, I have a 1980 Cutlass supreme. I've taken out the original 260 and trans and just got a 700r4 in behind a 310hp 1970 olds 350. the distributer is non electric, its a 4 barrel and theres a kickdown. I am trying to figure out what non electric Rochester I need for this car and have no idea where to start or who to ask. Any help would be greatly appreciated, it is summer time and I wanted this car done like yesterday.

THANKS in advance!!!!

Any Qjet with the proper mods would work. I like the later 77-80 carbs myself. Call Dean Oliver at Deano's Carbs. His turnaround time is very quick, prices and work very good, and he's very easy to deal with. He may already have a good core too so you won't need to go hunting around for one.

OK, thanks. My next question is what options are important on my carb. Since I have a kickdown cable the linkage has to be correct, and I need a 4 barrel. What about a heat tube choke. From my understanding this helps with cold weather starts so am I to assume that this is a must on my car if I live anywhere with cold winters or does this relate more to the particular engine I have?

Switch to electric choke, I hate the hot air choke. A stock late 70's 350 or 403 carb should be close calibration wise and work with your TV cable. I am curious why you went 700r4 over the 2004r?

REALLY?? I've been searching this question of whether a manual, hot air choke, or the electric is better through google and although there are ppl that say the electric is more convenient they also say that is more prone to fail. From what I'm reading the only issue with the hot air choke is the need to change the tube as it decays over time. More opinions please? All I care about is easy start up during the winter...

I really can't remember now. It definitely fit my needs I think. A trans that I could plant almost any motor in front of whether it be a 350 or a 455. It has overdrive and since this car is gonna need to be able to drive cross counrty if I so choose that was inportant. It also is really durable so although it will ussually be driven as a daily driver I can step on it any time I want when ever I want as mucha s I want and be able to trust it. What do you think?

I second Deano's carbs or another like them plus yes get the electric choke. Don't forget to tell them you don't have a 200-4R that they will need to make whatever adjustments to work with your 700-R4.
