Carb vs. Gears??

i've barked tires and had them break loose a little and i'm still running the 3.8 with that dualjunk POS and a 2.41 gear. of course i stay on top of what my engine does. i am fanatical about the ignition especially. i try to keep the engine running as best as i can get it to given the circumstances and parts i have to deal with.

i've even spun tire on the track with my car coming out of the hole. i was surprised by that. runs slow as all get out (high 12's in the 1/8th mile), takes nearly 3 seconds to run the 60 foot but somehow spins tire out of the hole. my car makes no sense.

Gears make the MOST noticeable change in a car's performance. Going from 2.41s to 3.42s will make the car feel like a horse of an entirely different color.

I like the Eddys. Here's why: I have been able to consistently take them out of the box and have a WIDE variety of cars run well using them. Additionally, I have been able to swap the carbs between engines, do a few minutes worth of tuning and have the "new" carb run great on the car. I have had one on a truck for 3 years and touched it NEVER after I put a new motor in. If you get the tuning kit and do some research, they are as adjustable to application as any holley. I have rebuilt them after having other people give up on them and had good luck. Just my experience. I have used Holleys as well, and not had as much luck.

Gears will allow you to break the tire loose. I couldn't do any type of burnout before with my stock 2.29 gears but once I put in that monte ss rear with 3.73 posi that sucker would light'em up all day. But you want to make sure that your engine is tuned first. I love eddy carbs and that is what I've been running most of the time. Never had a problem with it except when I moved from Maine to Texas (hmmm I wonder why)
