For starters I'd check the trottle cable. Is it getting full motion on the linkage? Or is the cable hanging up on anything? It sounds stupid but I made that mistake with my Holly; I had it setup wrong and wasnt getting full throttle out of it. Also what type of Demon is it? Mechanical secondary? Give us a little bit more info please.

ah you got me on the mechanical secondary stuff it a road demon jr725cfm. but is the throttle cable sappose to be straight cause its not.its down (the cable)and the wire has to travel up to the linkage then pull it back. yeah i know this crap sounds stupid but its not pulling it all the way open.

Alright well I'm guessing that you have the wrong type of bracket on the carb. I took some pictures of my set up mabey that will clear things up. Or at least it will help me figure out what is wrong. The vacuum thing is easy. If you have a vacuum secondary there will be a diaphragm on the right side (pass. side) of the carb. If not there will just be a spring. Also you can tell by opening the linkage by hand if only the primaries (front 2 barrels) open then its vacuum. Mechanical is more for racing, you can set it up so all 4 barrels open at the same time.

Heres a picture of my carb setup. If you don't have it you'll need to get a bracket for the TV and throttle cables.

Also mount the cable higher up on the linkage to get more movement. If you can use the top hole that should be plenty of movement for you.

wow great pic thanks mine definitely doesn't look like that. that bracket i need it.is it just a plain throttle bracket that jegs sell or is it a specific one i need. thanks in advance you've been really helpful.

No problem man. That bracket is a cheap one. You can pick those up anywhere for about $15. Jeg's has some nicer ones. But that should fix your problem. Whatever you buy make sure that the throttle cable is even with the linkage. If it is pulling up or down on it your not going to get full motion.

sorry to hijack, hey chevyman, where do you have your return spring hooked up?

No problem. I got a bracket and ran the return spring off of the front of the intake manifold. I was having problems with the linkage hanging up. The spring/throttle cable/TV cable all in the same place made it a mess.

Heres a better picture. I like it with this set up. I havn't had the throttle hang up and it gives it a nice heavy pedal.
