Hi new to the board here.

My fiancee owns a 81 regal 3.8 na and t200 trans. Recently i loaded up the car and its at my home/garage. Both the motor and trans are done do to silly ex-husband (long story). I am pretty much trying to make a mild daily driver and will not see much track time. Cars in good shape and I really dont wanna see it go to waste.

I have been researching swapping in my 350 i have on a stand right now. 600 holly carb prolly 300 hp. Mild 462 heads .518/.525 hydrauilic cam with rhodes anti pump lifter. stock pistons eagle rods etc. pretty much know what the swaps gonna take. VERY GOOD SWAP GUIDE ON THIS FORUM! Just happen to have hookups to most of what i need except for the trans.

Recently came across a coworker who owns a 94 camaro lt1 4l60e and swappped in the vette 6 speed manual. His convertor got sold asap to his friend. Trans only had 85k on it and only set for like a month. I got the trans on the cheap $125. to be exact. Also has eaton posi and 3.23 for his 7.5 since he swapped in the 12 bolt moser. I like the idea of the overdrive and pretty sure the gforce crossmemebers are the way to go.

I do know of the TCI and other stand alone controllers with the remote tps and holley carb tps kits. This route seems to be the best way to go with what i have. Just curious if theres a budget saving way to do this install or should i just go the full on big budget route. I also have a few questions im having trouble finding elsewhere.

How much power can the 7.5 in the regal take with the 350 and 4l60e under the daily drive?
Can the gears/posi from the newer 7.5 interchange without issue?
Will the 4l60e fit without "subtle persuasion" to the tunnel?

Any and all advice/comments/help would be appreciated! Thanks

4L60E can fit easily but the 7.5 will only live behind it if you plan on treating it nicely. You should re-evaluate if you have enough to do the 8.5 swap if you, um, didn't plan on treating it nicely lol

I personally think an 8.5 would be the better choice, but a nicely built 7.5 should hold up under mild conditions.
My plans often change as i go on prepping my 81 Malibu due to my budget lately...As of now a mildly built 350/383,4l60E trans,8.5 Rearend 3.42/3.73s makes more sense than the 6.0 LQ9 that has been on my mind for awhile now,but we will see...
Im planning the drive train build from the rear 8.5,4L60E,then the power plant, since you have the motor and trans already the hard part on your end is done, Goodluck on your swap i will stay posted
