Carb'ed LS swap alternator

We tested the alternator while the car was running and it only was reading at 12.12 volts am i doing something wrong? 83 Hurst/Olds used original power wire to old alternator and brown wire to plug b on alternator.

Battery was probably fully charged and no draw - with your car off turn on the lights and accessories for a couple of minutes, start it up and try it again with them still on.
