The hose is part of the Walker 35574 Air Tube Kit which consists of (4) hose clamps, about a 12" piece of steel tubing, and the "high temp" silicone hose you see in the picture. You really only need the hose and two of the clamps from the kit. The hose is actually tapered because the hose from the pump and the fitting on the convertor are different sizes.

What is the purpose of the small tube that runs alongside of the cat? My car has one also and I wondered why it has one and some other cars don't have that extra tube. Thanks 🙂

The air diverter valve delivers air from the *smog pump* to the cat thru this tube. It adds oxygen to the unburned fuel to complete combustion in the converter before the unburned fuel can be released to the atmosphere.
