CCC elimination and Intake Swap

Sounds similiar to what I'm hoping to do on my '81 Iraqi Malibu, although the Malibu I have is an original Canadian car, without any computer controls on it at all. I'm going to swap the 229 for a 4.3, using the GM factory 4 barrel intake from the '85-'86 light duty trucks, and the tubular exhaust manifolds. Have to keep the EGR on the car to pass any visual emission inspections here. I'm also looking forward to the looks on peoples faces as well.

Haha I bet you do, that's ok three old time Olds guys are sure it's an Olds 350 in my car because of the air cleaner or something ( same guys that told me a 455 would run 12.25 stock,... yea ok) I'm still on the fence about the carb, the guys who always built my full race circle track carbs told me to start out with the 390 in fear of the secondaries opening may be to much to tune down, or the 450 carb would work as well. Being that this is all Olds stuff I will have to have a cam cut for it, Comp will have more info for me when I get to that point. I am trying only to make a nice solid driver motor out of it, the stupid stuff they did on these cars to curb emissions really killed the power and efficiency of the motor, keep the updates coming I love the out of the ordinary builds

Edelbrock DID make a small runner intake, the SP2P. It worked great a low rpm, part throttle on my Olds 307 and 350 in my 78 1/2 ton. The Qjet overwhelmed it at full throttle, small triangular runners, more noticeable on the 350. Also worked well when the motor went in my 94 with TBI. I switched to the A4 which only gained very slightly up top. I figured it was a perfect match for the 307 heads. I have it on the shelf, I can show pics, if interested. I know guys have bolted them to 260's, they should run good with a tuned carb.

Here is a more clearer picture of the motor.

Here is the dash layout with the manual choke. I did have to place stainless steel washers behind the choke cables to reinforce the plastic housing.

Very nice very clean, when I get around to doing a write up on what I'm doing you will see that is the look I'm going for, kind of stock, no emissions crap, just a clean original looking engine bay

I don't want to jack this guys thread, the only Olds intake I have seen machinest prints of was the 2711 I believe, the runner size in that intake is very large, they say its for 307-455 that is very vague, it's like how they say a SBC intake works for 283-438ci that is true if you don't mind a .125" runner mismatch. I have never seen the intake you spoke of, pics would be nice as well as some measurements if you want to PM me

The Olds SP2P manifold;
