So I bought a new project car 84 Cutlass Supreme Bougham. Today I decided to change the distributor cap. I bought a new GM HEI v8 cap and rotor I took the wires off but didnt mark them I followed my manual to put the wires on the correct towers. After putting it all together I fired it up and it started backfiring. Im not sure what would cause this? Do I need to get it timed? Noob here :D

Does the engine actually run? Is this an Olds or Chevy engine?
