Can anyone tell me why my check engine light doesn't come on when I turn my key to the ON position? I thought all the dummy lights were supposed to light up, but the only one that does is the Battery light, the others don't come on at all. I just bought this car and I can't remember if they ever came on at all. It's an 86 Cutlass Salon 307 vin Y engine.

Yes they are supposed to come on ... maybe the bulb was pulled out ... or it just burnt out.

have you checked to see if there is a piece of electrical tape infront of it? lol

On my 83 regal ONLY the batterie light comes on when I turn the car on. I do know the dummy lights work though because the check engine light came on when my car was misfiring badly a week ago. I also know the oil light works as it has turned on in the past when I had an oil leak and was low on oil.

Somebody more than likely pulled the bulb because they couldn't fix it to make it turn off

That would be my guess too.
