Calling the guy today, I know I can bolt in an A Body rear from 68-72 with the UMI conversion kit but I am uncertain about a couple things. Are there any driveshaft modifications that need to be made? Also what backspacing would I have to run for the rims due to the fact that rear is wider? Thanks for any input, everyone on this forum always helps me out and I hope to one day know enough to return the favor! Thanks again!

you'll need a conversion u joint and conversion uppers. As for backspacing JBrue can help you out cause he is running the 68-72 version. I have a 67 A body rear. When you get the rear end if it's an Eaton posi you should check the 2 pinion thrust washers. There was a service bulletin put out on them cause the brass thrust washers wore out prematurely and they were replace with a different alloy thrust washer. Mine still had the brass washers and they were paper thin.

Thanks for the info I am going to have the rear completely rebuilt and plan on running a Detroit locker or a new eaton posi unit. Do you know what conversion U-joint I would need? Thanks again for the help!! I am going to buy the kit from UMI for the conversion to an A body 10 bolt.

for the conversion u-joint.... NAPA part number: 240-0447

I upgraded the straps to girdles as well.....I lost a cap at 80 mph and it that sure woke me up....

Thanks again 🙂 I wish I could return the favor. It sucks being new to the car game but people here are definantly a huge help. I don't wanna feel like I am always answering questions but it sucks not being able to answer any.

Don't worry about asking and not answering, you'll get that point and alot quicker than us old guys who never had google when we started out decades ago
