I am currently in process of going heat only to AC. From airbox to the vent ducting the connections have so far been the same. AC has an extension to the outer vents. As some have said, if you can get the duct work from the same donor vehicle that the dash came from, everything should go rather smoothly. My project is a '78 Caballero, installing an '81 El Camino AC dash and venting. I believe someone else asked if you going to add AC dash and vents to heat only, I can't see why that would not work, as long as you can hook the vent control cables, plus use the AC extension vents.

As an afterthought, I think that due to the modular nature of the system, if you remove the outer block offs, you could use the old heat only dash by adding the AC extension ducts. I remember you want a more aesthetically pleasing, and better condition dash, but other readers may be looking for useful information.
