Cleaning/re-doing headliner ???'s

haha that brings back memories. when i got my malibu my headliner was held up with tacs and i left that way for about a year untill i went out one mornin wasnt payin attention and sat on a bunch that fell out lol bout a week later i payed i dont remember how much to have a custom one put in lol i was like no way am i sittin on tacs again

I can kinda relate to the tacks. When I got this one it had "F U" written in tacks above the drivers side. So far everything is going good fixing it, ut I didnt use enough hardener with the resin so some of it is still tacky. I gotta wire up my new rear view mirror before it goes in anyway. Thanks for all the input I will try the wire brush and scrub pad idea to clean it up.

You may want to return that nasty headliner board back to the yard where you bought it. You can buy new aftermarket ABS headliner boards at a reasonable price. Mikes Montes is one supplier that I believe sells the headliner substrate only or with fabric installed. Here's a link

I bought a ABS one for my El Camino I don't like it. The thing buckles and gets warped when the car is parked in the sun.

Thanks for the input. I was considering the ABS substrate for my headliner restoration when the time came but if they are not dimensionally stable in high heat, I will pass. The factory headliner is probably lighter anyway.
