With the dropping temperatures, I am running into an issue with my GP. When I start from a stop, it will almost stall. I let off the gas a little, and it seems to be fine. It also mainly happens when the car is at operating temp. It has only been in the past week or so, when the temps haven't been above low 50s. Nothing else has changed. I haven't had time to even check anything under the hood, but probably will Saturday. Any ideas what the issue could be? I usually have problems with it running like crap in hot weather, so this is a new one for me. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Only when you first start up the car or after warmed up too?

Doesn't happen when I first start it up in the morning, and drive to work. It will come close to stalling, especially in reverse, after it has sat for a few hours, like when I go home on my lunch break. Same thing on my way back to work after lunch. and, again, when I leave work to go home. Almost every time I come to a stop, and go again, it will almost stall. It hasn't actually died on me yet, but it has come close.

With the amount of crap in the fuel these days and the years the car has been around you might have some build up on the top of the valves which will absorb the fuel needed. Combine that with the heat of the engine(only happening to you after warm) and you have the condition you are talking about. The cooler the air is the more oxygen which will need more fuel..

Well, I just checked the car out, and the choke seems to be opening up just fine. The spacer for my air cleaner interferes somewhat with the choke rod movement, so I had made a small notch in it, and that seems to have moved, possible causing the choke to not open all the way. I moved it back to where it should be, and everything seems to be ok. Took it for a quick trip around the block, and no hesitation or wanting to stall.
Slightly off topic, taking a good look under the hood made me realize how much I probably should do to the car before winter. I need a new alternator pretty bad, as mine whines and surges so loud, you can hear it over the exhaust. New belts would be a good idea too, since mine are worn down 1/4" below the outer edges of the pulleys. PCV and charcoal canister filters should be changed, since they both look original. And i still desperately need a front brake job. Hopefully I can get this all done by the end of the month.
