Hi Everyone, Decided Not To Go With The Edelbrock Top End Kit Because Money Has Gotten Tight With Me Going Back To School Again In The Fall So I Have Decided On Using A Flat Tappet Camshaft For Now. Have Been Looking At Comp Cams XE274H Camshaft. Has Anyone Used This Camshaft Or Heard Any Thing About It -- Good Or Bad? The Motor It Will Be Installed Into Is A SBC 355 With A Comp Ratio Of 9.75:1 According To Specs With 64cc Edelbrock E Street Cylinder Heads And 1.5 Or 1.6 Rockers. Any Suggestions Are Greatly Appreciated. Thanks!

This is not my car or engine. Just a vid I found of the same cam in a 355. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex2D4ViL1X0

It all depends on the usage of the car. Is it going to be your only car? Is fuel mileage a consideration? Stall converter?

I know everyone is rich and full of money around here, but i have a used 280H magnum i'll let go for shipping just buy some new lifter and you'll be good to go...just an option if you are intrested...if you are looking for something more "lumpy" i have a 510 lift erson cam going for the same price

It Will Be A Summer Driver, It Is Not My Only Car So Im Not Too Worried About fuel Mileage, As Far As Stall Converters Go I Will Be Running A Manual Four Speed Transmission. Thanks Again For The Input Guys And Look Forward To Your Future Comments!

The 4 speed definately elmiminates a lot of issues lol. You can look into monte olrac's cams or the XE274H is still a good choice. I went with Lunati 60103 cam and that seems to offer the best power and specs when compared to comps XE line.

Would You Recommend The Lunati 60103 Cam Over The Comp Cam XE274H Camshaft. I Will Be Running A Holley 650 CFM Square Bore 4 Bbl Carb With An Edelbrock 2701 EPS Intake Manifold As Well... Thanks For The Advice!

If i were you, i wouldn't be spending too much cash on those cams if you still plan to go with that topend kit later on when cash flow permits. you may need to have your springs replaced for the cam lift , seat pressure and all that stuff. now if you are going to keep this setup for a while then i'll just shut the **** up and go back to coloring.

HAHA, if i like the set up i will prob keep it, y spend 1800 bucks if you already find a set up your happy with?

I would recommend the lunati 60103 over the XE274H. I spoke with the guy over on the teamchevelle forum, UDHarold, who designed both comp cams XE line and the Voodoo line. He designed the Voodoo cams to outperform Xtreme Energy cams in all aspects. This cam needs a 2400 stall and they say it likes 700cfm carb, but you can get away with a 650 carb as that will help you get up off the line quicker. I'm gonna be running mine with a 600 edelbrock to start with and if I have to, I've got two spare 750 carbs.

Compare the specs of say the XE268 or even XE274 to the lunati 60103. IMO the lunati cams look much nicer than comps lobe designs as well. They are ground to open the valve fast while setting them down gently to help eliminate valve chatter that sometimes occurs with the XE cams, this is not always the case but happens sometimes. Another thing is that Lunati is the ONLY cam company that gets their cores here in the US and manufactures them here. Comp and others get theirs out of the country and they have more techs on standby so your not waiting half an hour. Here is a pic of the 60103:
