Sup Gbody community, I've been lurking for a few months and just wanna introduce myself.

I recently picked up an 84 Monte SS, always wanted one. And glad I did I was extremely bored with imports. Well, I think I found a good Gbody to start with, it's a one owner with all original drivetrain. Some common rust and needed some tlc but I'll do my best to get her better than when I found her.

First thing I noticed was she needed brakes so I went ahead and got new pads and rotors up front. Drums, shoes, cylinders, two lines and all new hardware in the back.

I have a few plans for her, wish me luck... Better yet share some knowledge!

Thanks man, I'm in the infamous Waterbury. Quiet side lol

I get compliments all the time in the Monte, this is primarily a ricer town.

It's a good thing you're on the quiet side. There are many ricers on the i84 speedway. At least your not far from ground up. They do the winter car show there. I normally go.

Sweet, got any info on the show? I wouldn't mind seeing some cool cars right about now for some motivation 😵

Also if you need parts for your monte contact Gboz on here he has anything y

I just emailed them for the date. I want to say is normally January or February. They have about 3 or 4 cars in their showroom all year. Plus they are starting to carry more gbody parts.

Welcome to the site. Nice looking Monte! I have one like it. Have a good look at the rear backing plates when you do the rear brake work. The backing plates have been known to rot out, causing other problems. Good luck with the work.

Thanks man! Rear end looked good.

Soon after I spent the time and coin on the rear brakes I learned that blazer rwd caliper assemblies are almost a bolt on upgrade.:blam:

But that's gonna come later maybe once I seriously look into posi.

The 98+ 2wd Blazer spindles are also a great upgrade. They use larger rotors, 2 piston calipers, and sealed bearing hubs. With an adapter braket you can upgrade to C5 corvette calipers and rotors.

That is my set up. I'll be doing the C5 brakes on the spring.
