Yeah duals help these motors considerably. Can't really help you as far as headers as I got used hookers on mine. But for an exhaust flowmasters are very nice or check out the pypes systems and mufflers. Summit has pretty nice prices.

ok so im gonna have to ask a question when i put a 403 in my 85 cutlass will the headers made for the 403 still work even though they are not on 77-79 model???

Just get headers for the year Cutlass you have. Just make sure they are made for the 307. All Olds engines are the same so the headers will fit.

what about a distributor for the 403 since it will not be a computer controlled car any longer?

i found a distributor at summit for 69.95 but i dont know if it will work i put that i wanted it for a 1978 cutlass supreme with a olds 350

I have not seen an r45ts ac delco plug I know they are used on a 79 cutlass with a 350 R and that is what I got the dist for, I was just curious if anyone here knows if they are the same as the ones for an 87 with a 307 other than the gap, I converted the dist over and now I realized that the gap is different and so is the plugs part #, I think they are the same other than gap though, I'll go buy some and see...
so add that to the conversion, AC Delco R45TS plugs @ .045 gap (when useing the before menbtioned distributor) and change the timing to 8 degrees BTC.

I am no expert on the emmisions part, I can tell you mine was all gone when I got my car.
The air tubes on exhaust manifolds were capped off with the screw in type plugs, and everything else was gone except the egr valve itself, it is not plugged into anything though it is just there to plug the hole in the intake manifold.

The later 307's had different plugs than the earlier motors, more threads. Your base timing should run somewhere between 18-23 degrees. Adjust to what your engine works best with.
