I've got a '81 Turbo Coupe (didn't originally come with tachometers) and would like to add a tach. Tach's for sale are mostly V8. Can a V8 tach be modified for V6? How?

I also would like to change out the idiot lights for gauges - is that as simple as installing the 4 gauge cluster and changing out the sending units on the motor?

Thanks in advance

Which car (Buick or Monte)? Most factory tach units have a little jumper or switch on the back to switch them between v6-v8. it might just be labelled 6 or 8. I really can't remember! 😳 I know the Pontiac and Olds ones do anyway.

Monte tach

I'm looking at the back of the tach, don't see any jumpers or switches.

Is it possible they put the jumper on the printed wiring for the dash cluster?

Its the '81 Monte

thanks!

If you've only got the tach outside of the cluster, then yeah, iirc it should be on the back of the cluster somewhere. I should have thought of that! 😀
