It's easy to spend alot. I know our project car was supposed to be around 5k but i know i have doubled if not more on that price, and yet it is a driver and nothing more. not a show car. not a drag car. just a dependable car.

my 1984 buick regal project

I bought my regal for $100
I swapped in my used motor/transmission/gas tank and rear end out of my 87 buick regal turbo. about $200
I got front (leather power)/rear seats from a 94 buick park ave-$30
Re-dyed and cleaned carpet from a car in a u-pull it-$5
new headliner-$10
reused my 15 inch t-type wheels-new bf goodriches about $200
body work is being done by me and my friends, then sum masking and off to macco-$300
for my exhaust i replaced my cat w/ a test pie and i run 2 1/4 dynomax ultra flow muffler(they are great 4 turbo cars)
rear trailing arm boxing kit-$50
hollow f-body front sway bar-$5
s10 rear brake cylinders-$20

I'm building my car very cheap and right now it prolly runs high 12s. with my basic mods.

I would def start with the plugged cat. I figured you knew something since you know your engine code. Only people who care would know something like that. 8)

I even know my transmission code, and axle ratio... and that's just for my beater...lol

If you can find me a complete Turbo Regal drivetrain for $200, I will buy it any time! Otherwise, it is not a realistic comparison for someone who has no prior experience with these cars and is starting from scratch.

85 Cutlass Brougham yes i understand wat your sayin i was just sayin if you wait around deal do come up. like the complete regal i bought for $100 bucks i waited for about 2-2 1/2 for the old lady to finally sell me the car.

Been a while, been in my own builds. Id say grab an lm7, 5.3 lsx w/ a 4l60e trans from wrecker. Can get the whole drivetrain for around $600 complete.
