I'm about to pull the trigger on a 350/290 hp gm crate motor to replace the 305 in my 85 GP. Just wondering if I'm gonna run into any problems with anything not fitting or extra parts I might need.
It's got the auto trans with OD. I'm planning on keeping the stock trans until it granades then replacing with turbo400.

I'm assuming the rear diff should be changed? I had a 87 cutlass with the 307 and that diff granaded twice doing doughnuts 🙂.

I've been looking for a good cowl hood but I can only find fiberglass ones and the quality of the hoods is quite subject. Has anyone graphed a scoop from the site laureneng.com on to an orginal? I'm a painter so the work is ot an issue but the quality might be and crap is expensive coming out of the US to Canada to just take random chances.

Thanks!

Here are some pics but now I'm running some american racing 18's with 235/40/18's, falken tires (look pretty sweet with the new boots, no pic yet as it's in storage for ther winter)

I don't know how you did that.....we ran a metric circle track car with the 7.5 rear end with a 602 crate and never had a problem with it...in fact none of the field ever blew up a 7.5 diff for the last couple of years....last year we had to cut a tube after the rear end got bent smacking the wall and we couldn't get the axle out cause of the bent tube....we transplanted the carrier into another housing and went racing that nite.....

I dunno but it was in pieces both times. I got limited slip form a gm truck put in after that and never had a problem again, no matter what I did to it.

put some pics of the wheels up when you can, im wanting a set of rims so bad right now i can taste it but everytime i get my heart set on one set, something happens like not being able to find a distributor, or the wheel got discontinued last week... or we dont have anything that lug pattern under a 22"...

finding a set of rims for my car was a HUGE pita!!! Not many companys make the right inset for our cars.
The ones I have are gun metal middles with chrome rings.
These are them http://www.americanracing.com/browse_vintage.asp
but they made 18's a few years ago when I bought them but only put them on this year because of cash flow problems because of my new house.

CL205 TTII

ah ttII, i would get some of those, but they are so over done im tired of seeing them lol. i like to push new trends, but its expensive to do!

I am happy to hear that the mullet wheels no longer reside on your GP! They look a bit...umm...dated in the pics...lol

I feel the same way. I like the TTII's on G bodies, but am afraid to get them because they have been popular for so long that I am afraid that as soon as I get them, they will be out of style. I can't find another wheel that I like as much though, without spending a lot more money. So, I am stuck in the 80's with my 16x8 in Enkei 92's.

nothin wrong with the old school look...go with what you like and to hell with the rest....

hahaha, those mullet wheels were only on for 1 day but It's the only pic I have access to until I get my other pc back. I was on 16 inch IROC rims for a few years but the TT2's are much nicer.
Around here you don't see any g-bodys with TT2's because there are not many around.
I never personally seen one in the 2 years I've had mine. I got them for such a great deal I couldn't say no.

Next year I'm going black and orange body and new black rims of some sort will be bought but until them, I'm kickin' it old school 🙂

should also note, those back mullet rims had 325/50/15's on them lol they hit the quarters every time you hit a bump. I'll try to find a pic of the TT@2's and the iroc ones too.
