Hey fellas, was curious what you could recommend for a 2" cowl Induction hood for my 78 monte that is close to being finished. I don't want to go much if any higher than 2". I found a couple already. Dixie and US hoods have them for a decent price, but looking for something a little different, with out having to get a bolt on hood scoop. Doesn't matter if it's a pin on hood or bolt on to the hinges. I appreciate any and all input as always gentlemen.

Thanks,
BIll

I've had my eye on this one for awhile. Just haven't been able to talk myself into letting the $ go. It's a 4" from VFN Fiberglass. To me, a 2" isnt enough on 78-80 monte due to the body lines that are on the hood already. But to each their own

While this is a Malibu and not a Monte Carlo, this may give you and idea of a 2” rise on a Goodmark steel hood. There is bracing on the under side and a relief for the air cleaner to go inside of. My air cleaner is tucked up inside the cowl relief to help take advantage of the air coming in from the cowl.
(Picture of hood is when it was getting wrapped)

If you don't mind spending money, Glasstek can make a bolt on hood with basically any scoop you want.
I had a 6.5" Sunoco bolt on hood made for my 83' Monte, haven't installed yet but looks nice and is very light.

If you want a full-on fiberglass bolt-on, I have been very happy with the hoods I got from GlassTek. I agree with the need for a slightly larger bugle or cowl to match the body lines. Might consider a 3 inch or Sunoco bulge.

So I got a 5" sunoco bolt on hood for my 84 Cutlass. What are you guys doing for a hood spring? There is not a place for the factory one. Thought about going backwards and mounting it to the core support instead. Thanks.

Just wanted to update this thread guys. So after careful research, and cost analysis, I decided to fabricate a one of a kind Monte Carlo hood. I found a cowl scoop off a stingray, and put it on my Original hood. It’s riveted and epoxied on. Then I layered fiberglass over the seam. Sanded it as smooth and thin as I could get, and blended it to the hood with bondo. I think it came out pretty good and have had a lot of good comments from people that have seen it in person. What do y’all think??
