i was just thinking about how cool the cowl induction doors are on the chevelle's. i was wondering if you could make your own. just buy the flapper from a chevelle and cut a hole in your cowl. what vacuum would you use for something like that, if it can even be done.

i was looking around on the internet last night and found out you can buy all the frame and flaps for it, so maybe it is not impossible, and i know i am not going to leave the idea alone unless i try it!

As far as the vacuum source, something similar to a Hurst Olds/442 setup should be fine. The flap on the "secondary inlet" on those particular air cleaners react in a similar fashion.

It tees into the vacuum hose that goes to the heat riser flap switch in the stock air cleaner inlet. This I think would be the best source.

I would think running the cowl setup you'd be running an open air cleaner, so what i'd do is mark the hose going to the "flap", and shorten, lengthen, replace if necessary that hose to fit, and you should rock out.
