Found an exhaust pipe on eBay. Cost $40. Enquired about shipping cost ( Tennessee to Ohio ). $190. That right folks. $190 to ship a single pipe. Oh and now the pipe is listed at $75. I hope this clown trips over his pipe and hits his head on the ground. Maybe it'll knock him back to reality.

it's around a 7 hour drive for him one way so I don't see anything wrong with $190......😛

Shipping prices in general over the past few years have gone nuts. The Post Office subsidizes "free shipping" for large corporation like Amazon and then jacks up the prices for individuals wanting to ship single items. He probably got a quote for close to $190 from the PO.

I sent a 1 ounce "O" envelope to my son using the APC kiosk, selected "large Envelope" and payed the $1.60. Two days later it shows up in my mailbox $2.29 postage due. I grab the letter and drive back to the post office to shove it up the post office's mail slot.

I ask the postal guy what the envelope looked like he said "a Package".

Then why do you have "large Envelope" as a selection in the Kiosk?

Postal worker- That envelope is padded.

Nothing in the Kiosk menu said anything about padded. It said "non Rigid" and less that 1/4" thick. I bend the envelope multiple ways to show it is non rigid. I squeeze I to show its less than 1/4" thick.

Postal worker - Our machines can't process padded envelopes. $2.29 extra, please.

THEN WHY DOESN'T THE KIOSK SAY THAT?????? No wonder the post office is going broke.

Big shipping costs sure makes things difficult when you're trying to sell large items but live in the middle of nowhere.

ups and fedex are no better. i remember 8-9 years ago i could ship a 40 pond bicycle through postal ups for about 75 bucks. i went to ship a 11 pound fan shroud in a 36x10x12 box. they wanted 65 bucks. last night priced out a box 16x12x12 weight 42 lbs. 84 dollars , fedex 83 , usps 81. it has gotten insane for the small guy to shipp anything. paypal sucks at calculating prices also. once they charge you shipping alot of horror stories with people getting stuff back from post office and ups for not paying enough postage. and the post off ice makes its own rules with the priority and flat rate envolopes too. some branches wont let you ship them if is is too thick. last time i checked their slogan in print and video was if it fits it ships.but another branch wont even bat an eye scan it label and you pay.

Shipping rates went up because of the "fuel crisis". A "fuel surcharge". Remember that? You may not because the "crisis" ended when the recession hit but shipping NEVER went down. Why should it? So did airline ticket prices. Never came down. Just like gas prices right now. Why are they sneaking up around $3 a gallon? We are awash in cheap oil. It's winter- no one's driving. Gas should be dirt cheap. But it isn't. Why should it? They are gouging the hell out of us and we are asleep at the wheel. So they do it. The only time prices drop is when demand goes away or is boycotted. Understand now?

Just recently, I sold a spare regal grille for 125 dollars, ****in cost me 94 to ship. Still pissed.

The shipping prices before the recession were cheaper yes, we get that. but were still cheap after the recession. the oil prices is always the go to excuse. wer cheaper 5 years ago. were cheaper 3 years ago. post office alone in the last 2 years has raised their rates 3 times. ups and fedex follow suit cause why not. it is purely corperate greed. nothing else. The three know they have you by the balls cause who else will you ship through?

This is why I rarely offer to ship anything any longer - it is cost prohibitive for the buyer.

Also if it doesn't come with free shipping, I won't buy it online. The exception being something that must go freight due to size and weight.

We are in the process of buying a fabricated steel bumper and a set of 20" wheels and tires for Natasha's Colorado - $100 for the bumper, and $250+ for the wheels... and that is from Summit and a big dealership in Arkansas. That is about 15-30% of the price of the parts, respectively. Pricey.

I work at UPS. Higher up suites always complaining about how they can't afford this and that for their employees when Union contract time comes around, yet they make record profits every year.

Regardless of shipping companies overcharging, it's the idiots selling things that are overcharging too. Just adds to the gouging.
