Yes Steve- these are pretty old rims. Early 70's I believe.

what about getting some ice and water shield they use on roofs and stick some of that on the back of the hub cabs...it's similar to dynomat and should absorb the vibrations and noise

It's not tar paper, it's like a rubber and it use to have butyl in it. It will kill unwanted noise and stop viabrations, I used it on the floor of my GP and it was something suggsted to me by my friend who installs sound systems. It is much cheaper than dynomat but gives you the same results.

We used to have that same issue in the 70's and 80's at the Buick Dealer. We'd wrap a turn or two of electrical tape around all the clips and pop 'em back on. Ghetto for sure, but it worked.
