ok guys i have a 83 gutlass supreme 3.8 th200c trans 😢 anyway i know this guy who was a 88 monte ss. this would be a great time for me to upgrade to the 200r-4 trans since he is gonna part out the car.

if i buy the 200r4 trans will it bolt right up to my 83 cutlass and will the cross member from the th200 trans work with the new 200r4 trans

i only have $300 bucks extra spending cash right now and found out about this deal the 200r-4 is selling for $200 so that leaves me with $100 for any extra stuff i may need to buy

The 200-4R will fit directly in place of the 200, bolts to the engine, uses the same driveshaft with no modifications. But you will need the 200-4R trans crossmember from the MC. I am not sure if an 83 Cutlass has the extra set of holes to mount the 200-4R. If not you will need a frame extension to bolt it in.If so don't worry about it. The holes should be behind where the current crossmember is mounted

The crossmember will not work, see if you can get it from the Monte. The other problem is that the mounting holes for the 200R4 crossmember are not there. You need to buy a frame extension that adds the set of holes you need. They have them at crossmembers.com. You also will need the cooling lines from that car, and the t.v. cable bracket. I do not know if the bracket from the monte will work with a 3.8 or not.

The coolant lines and tv cable worked from my 200-c when I swapped to a 2004-r. The only difference was the crossmember, it mounts farther back. You need a 2004-r/thm-400 crossmember.

the only advantage you get by adding that trans is an overdrive... all the gear ratios are the same as the T200.. when your flushed with a couple extra bucks add 3.73s in the back... itll help ya get outta the hole faster
