I picked up a dual hump crossmember from the junkyard. I'm not absolutely sure what it's out of, but I was told it's out of an A-body. Yes it has the right transmission mount. It's slightly longer than the stock one (judging by holding it up under the car)

I guess I'll need to shorten it and redrill holes. I thought maybe i'll even have to switch the transmission mount from the stock one to the dual hump because the crossmember will be angled... right? How do I go about doing all of this without messing with the position of the transmission now?

There are some pics in my photo album. Any help is appreciated, I really don't know where to start here.

Best way to check is to put a jack under the trans (with a block of wood), and remove the old crossmember. Then you can mock it up and see how close/far off the crossmember you want to use is, or if it will even work at all.

Thats what I was thinking. If this x-member does work, is the location of the transmission (up and down) very exact? Can it be small fractions of an inch off and still work fine? I'm thinking it would be tough to get it EXACTLY where it was before.

Does anybody know what the crossmember is out of by looking at it?

looks like an A body to me

Is that a good thing? Is it possible to use this (in other words)

I did some measuring, and the dual hump is 52 inches long, and the transmission mount is directly centered, and the stock x-member is around 47 inches and the transmission mount is off center (26" to frame mount on one side and 21" to the other) Hmmmmm.....

Nobody has used one of these before?
