Cruise Control on non Cruise Turn Signal Lever

Sounds awful cheap and don't forget the wiring runs to the bottom of the steering column. There is a knack for replacing that switch and if not done properly you will use some ugly words. I have replaced many and I used a piece of manual choke wire. It is stiff, relatively thin and strong. There is a hole at the connector and you make a "u" with the wire and hook the connector and cut off excess. Steering column in straight position. No tilt and gently work through the column as you remove the old switch. Hook new wiring to wire and pull back through ever so gently. Sometimes if you have a tilt wheel you may have to raise or lower one notch to work it through.

You don't seem to understand I don't need to replace this piece. It just something that doesn't look very nice because the chrome is starting to peel. I was asking if the $7 part could be use the with the cruise parts attached to the chrome from the one that isn't cruise to save money because Im not looking to spend much more than that on something i don't actually need hence why i was curious if that $7 one could be taken apart and made to work. Seems as if Ill have to experiment to find out.

I read in your op that you were not happy with the price of a new Doorman and you found one on Ebay so to me that means you are looking for a replacement so you're right, I don't understand...personally I would rather put the money in someone's pocket from this forum than a stranger on ebay

I was asking about a $7 fix cause painting my car sure as hell aint cheap. But you seem to know what whats best for me so ill go ahead spend more money than I wanted to or have to on something I don't need. You are right that I think that its a very high price for the dorman one and I won't be paying that much. I found the ebay one after I posted, the point of the ebay one is I can get a cheap one and its an option. If I decide I want to get a nice one I will talk to someone on the forum, but until then I'm going to either live with it, find a parts car with one or see if I can take parts off the $7 one and rebuild it and if I mess it up maybe the ebay one.

I bought a complete 78 cruise control, it had a factory mounted switch on the dash, they do exist. Glad you found a cheaper version. The dash mounted switch will work great on my 70S.
