I have yet to make the conversion yet but this is what I'm trying to figure out. There is an "adapter" harness to go from an SI alternator to a CS alternator. Some are specified as those for cars WITH a warning light or those WITHOUT a warning light.
My car still has the sweep style gauges (No voltage gauge), so I'm sure it has the warning light that shows a picture of a battery. Do I need the inline resistors? The two wires leading from my alternator are red and brown, while the brown wire leads back into the cockpit. I've read that there needs to be at least 35 ohms of resistance in the alternator wires.
I have the plug from cadillac that I pulled this alternator from and plan on patching it in.
I read from this website http://www.novaresource.org/alternator.htm that the warning light bulb provides enough resistance and an inline resistor is not required. Any input appreciated.
