cutting fornt springs need help

ok i was told he fornt ones can be cut with out tacking them out and im just looking for a few safe tips on how to go about doing that.or the safest was to remove the fornt spring

Depending on who you talk to ... this is either very simple or insanely stupid....I recommend doing a search in the chassis section....sure to be plenty on this topic there
 
the bottom part of the spring gets cut so even if you could cut the spring in place you wouldn't be able to turn the spring so it would sit in it's pocket on the lower control arm

so uts best to just take them all the way out and cut them?
 
I guess you could remove the shock and get a coil compressor in there so you can cut the spring but I think that's more difficult to try to cut while you're having to hold it in place than to take it out and stick it in the vice...... you only want to cut 1/4 coil at a time and then drive the car for a few days to let the car settle before you decide if it's low enough. If you were using the moog 5660 springs I could tell you that a 1/4 coil drops the car 1"
 
either way is as safe or unsafe as you make it, the ball joint is easier than the bolts for the lower control arm
