hey guys, just came across another problem as I was getting ready to fix some of the threads for one of my head bolts. Once I removed the cylinder head and started to look over the bolt hole That gave me problems I noticed that the the metal around the lip has been raised up now. I'm pretty worried that has turned into something major now. I attached pics that I took with my phone.. Hopefully you can see what I mean. Any advise is appreciated as always.

yes I am lol here's the thing.. I had the bolt hold cleaned out at a performance shop a couple of weeks ago and I just looked at the other side of the block (haven't put any bolts in those holes yet) and they look a little off to me. That could just be me but I took a pic of one of the holes I hadn't touched yet so you can tell me if it looks strange to you lol again, I'm not sure if you'll be able to see what I mean in the pic

Looks like the block was decked?

Were the holes chamfered?

How are the bolts being installed? Sealer/ oil/ dry? Torque value?

to be honest I do not know the answer to those questions lol this is the first time I've taken on a car/motor project so there's been a bit of a learning curve.

Anyone have any ideas what my options would be to get the fixed up?

Thanks for the responses so far

I can't tell how bad the threads are in your pictures but if metal is raising up around the bolt hole then it is possible the bolts were over torqued or the bolts are not long enough to fully engage the threads properly.
You might have to have a machine shop do thread repair on the damaged bolt holes and deck the block to clean it up

Hate to ask the obvious, but are you sure thats not just the gasket in the first picture? I don't really see a way you could physically bulge the top out without also pulling the threads out.

If I were you, I would take the gasket off and see if it is indeed bulging. More pics might then help us help you further.

i removed the gasket before the pic was taken and it was brand new so none of it was left on the block once removed.

The entire reason I removed the cylinder head in the first place was because that particular hole's threads gave out at about 60ft lbs of pressure on the third round of torquing. All 12 bolts were holding fine when this one gave way and they were all proper long with proper thread spacing and three amount and also brand new. I was just planning on doing a helicoil until I saw that raised lip today. I also tried to remove it with a razor blade and I tried to force it down wth my hand just to see if anything happened but it didn't budge.

This is not looking so good for me at this point lol

Thanks for the tips so far though

When I stalled the bolts I only used engine oil on the threads. I realized now I should have had some sealant on there instead and some oil on thaft

There's lots of debate as to what you should lube head bolts with but you can rest assured that many people have used only engine oil and it worked just fine. I think you are looking at some other problem here.
