With all the distractions drivers have and the divers who just don't see anything I wired my front signal lites to use them for DRL so I have a better chance of being seen. I have them wired so the signals come on with the ignition. The DRL stay on until I turn the signal on whichever side is flashing, the opposite side the DRL stays on, The DRL is turned off on the side that is flashing until the turn signal is turned off and then the DRL mode kicks in again. The DRLs are also wired to turn off when the lights are turned on. I used two 10,000 UF capacitors, two 10k 1/4 watt resistors, 4 relays and 6 diodes so it's around a $10 cost to do it. I did this back in 2014 so the prices may have gone up....😀

Steve, I'd love to read more details on this set up if you're willing to write it up in a "dumbed down" format for guys like me who don't really understand electricity much beyond not putting my fingers or tongue in the wall socket....

X2 on this Steve.
My DD is a F250 Super Duty that seems to have a "Invisible" switch stuck in the "on" position. Ford used the fog lights as daytime running lights but I'd prefer to use the empty reflector light along side the headlights.

I too are interested in learning aboot your DIY DRL pls, tx, K ,bye

It's not that complicated, the longest part was to try to get the right value for the capacitor.

on the 5 pin relay

for the two relays to the turn singals
85 - to ground
86 - 10,000 UF Capacitor and 10K 1/4 watt resistor to turn signal
87 - 12 v in
30 - 12v to turn signal

the other two relays,
one turns on the steady pulse to the turn signals when the ignition is turned on
the other one turns off the steady pulse when the headlights are turned on

I used diodes in the lines so the current would not back feed the relays

The parts are not expensive and it's not hard to do but with the running around to get the parts and the time factor to do the job I would get the get the kit for the $39. Plus the unit in the kit is smaller than the 4 relays and it looks cleaner than the 4 relays with the wiring. But if you need more info from me let me know.

this is a pretty old thread but I recently got a few pm's from people asking about them.....here is what they look like, I have the nighthawk bulbs. The driver's side looks brighter but that is only from the angle of the camera...
