I have had good luck with Hooker and Edelbrock. I tend to like shorties because they offer stock like ground clearance, but they are not a good choice if you are trying to build a drag car. The number one thing to check is the flange thickness. You want the thickest you can find because thin ones bend and do not seal. Cheap headers used to have very thin flanges, some less than 5/16 in thick! The cheap set of Hedmans I had in the early 90's were thin like that and no matter what I did they never sealed. I replaced them with Hooker Super Comp full lengths ( this is on my AMC), and they not only fit better, but they were easy to seal as well.
 
another good reason i would go with blackjacks, they fit angle plug heads too which really helps out if you come across a nice set of heads in the future
 
Sweet,I appreciate the feedback...Anyone know anything about the Summit Brand of headers for the cutlass?
