Yeah believe it or not. Still have the leather GM cover to put the glass in if you take it out and drive around with just the opening in it. I cannot believe all the black 3rd generations too. Looks like my car has about 10 twins on this site.

umm, hate to burst your bubble but that is not a factory sunroof. the factory sunroof would not pop up like in your other pic, it slides back into the roof, like this monte has. My 78 has a factory sunroof and i can get you pics to prove the difference if you want

My uncle has a 78 that he bought new and hasn't changed a thing except for routine maintenance. His has a sunroof exactly like that. Maybe there were a few exceptions during assembly. Look at all the bracing on g bodies. Some of the exact same models have different bracing. General motors could have made exceptions with the sunroofs as well.

The dealers back then were notorious for installing pop-up sunroofs.i have my original owners manual showing the sunroof, i can scan in and post to show the factory sunroof was not a pop-up piece. Also the factory sunroofs the roof itself was also reinforced at the opening for more strength. You can also check the build sheet and look for the sunroof code, iirc its like CA1 or something like that, i will check mine tonight

i will take a few scans of it tonight and post later on.

I've seen a white 86 Monte SS that had a red colored padded roof like a landau that the owner swears was factory, but it was a dealer add on. Just because you bought the car new at a dealer does not mean everything on it is factory. A friend of mine bought a new 2006 GTO from the dealer new and it had a rear back up sensors and power sunroof and that also was never a factory piece, there were dealer add-ons. More ways a dealer can charge more for a car

Honestly .......... I really don't care. You are going through a lot to prove exactly what???? I thought this was just about people that love thair cars and post pics. I did not buy mine orginally, but was told it was from the factory............. so sorry if I believed that .......................
