My friend lives in Delaware. He bought a 67 c10 for him and his son to restore. His c**t neighbor called the cops on him for having a nonregistered car. It's on his property not in a homeowners association. It has no engine so he said he can't register it because it need emissions for registration. He is new to this and I don't live in delaware. I know some of you guys have some ways around this

Sounds like he's screwed.. I have a friend that wants the truck if he needs to sell it. Otherwise, he needs to get it running and registered. Delaware sucks got that kind of crap.

Emissions for a 1967?!?!?!?!

His state is worse than NY!!!

The police usually don't enforce town/city type codes like that.

And how would you drive it to a shop to get inspected with out it being registered?

You should be able to register it and DMV gives you a temp 10 day inspection.

Delaware laws have changed a bit regarding temp tags. You used to be able to get 2 15 to 30 day temp tags for like 15 bucks a piece. Now they will only give you a temp tag to drive it to the shop you specify WITH the shop's name on the tag. sh*t sucks. I'm actually going to attempt to take my Cutlass through the gestapo tomorrow and get my tags legal again so I don't have the same issue as your friend.

I'm glad Pa don't have those laws. What kind of time does that neighbor have on her hands to mind someone elses property. IMO she should cover the cost of every since she is the cause. But a good kick with steel toes to the lady parts would make me feel better but I'm not right.

Emissions exempt if built before 1967. Not sure how you would get through the lane anyway.
They had a special lane for inspections on a trailer when I lived there.
May want to call DMV.
Its not a green fleetside longbed by chance is it?

we had an issue like that so we put a car cover on it and never got bothered after that...

I think your friend may not have an unregistered motor vehicle according the the legal definition in his jurisdiction...his vehicle is not self propelled

"(37) "Motor vehicle" includes every vehicle, as defined in this section, which is self-propelled, except farm tractors, electric personal assistive mobility devices and OHVs."

In California we have what DMV calls Planned Non-Operation (PNO). You pay a small annual fee. That would cover your friend here.

But then when it comes time to bring it off PNO, a '67 here would be under smog rules. As long as the motor is '75 or earlier it wouldn't need a tailpipe test, but it would be legally limited to some kind of factory stock motor, basically.

Can't win.
