Ouch!
How many horsies was in front of that Yukon? Was it new?

I have the opportunity to get a Detroit Truetrac set-up for $675.. New, to my door (Carrier, 3.73 Ring and Pinion (US Gear), Bearings, Install Kit, Solid Pinion Spacer, blah blah) - 28 spline, already have the axles. I was looking at about $150-165 cheaper for the others.

Drop another $300 and jump up the axle size up to 30 or 31 spline.

How much power you making'?

On my wish list, I just have to pick and choose my winter upgrades.
My wishlist seems to be growing faster than my budget lol.

You're on a good plan. The Moser 30 or 31 so lines will take 7-800 whp without issue.

I think it really depends on how much power and how you are going to use it. If you need a Tru Track you need it. Don't skimp for a few bucks. It's not worth doing it twice to save money out of the gate.

Yukon was 2 years old, maybe 4000 miles.

Probably 550ish hp. On the two step at 3400rpm clutch dump. I had some wheel hop in the burnout box that might have killed it prematurely.

Pretty simple.

They're the most expensive option, so are they worth the added cost?

Getting ready to buy.. only ever had Auburn, and never had an issue running way more HP than this GP ever will.

I bought a Quick 9” rear end with the eaton tru trac. Zero regrets with it.

I went with 31 spline axles in my setup. I don’t know the power rating differences between them (28 vs 31 or 33) right off hand but that’s a great price for what sounds like good parts

So, what's the deal with the 7.5 rears? I get that everyone says they're weak but what's the weak link? Gears, carrier, axles... Can the limitation be reduced to allow a 7.5 to survive in a well powered street car that see's the occasional trip to the drag strip. Can a 7.5 survive a 12 second car??
