Got an email ad from Advance today announcing they'll be selling Diehards in July, what the... So looking things up & found out the slayer of Sears sold the brand to Advance last December for a cool $200 million! I know they don't live up the name anymore but really, they should of let it fade away like Sears itself. So was Advance ripped off, will they make it a good brand again or use the name as a cash cow?

I think I had heard the name was sold. Probably made by Johnson Controls. When I put one in my truck I can pretend it's 1995 and I just bought it from Sears. Then I can go to Lowe's and buy some Craftsman tools that aren't really Craftsman.

It's going to go one of two ways. Either they'll try to use the name to drive foot traffic, or, more likely as an excuse to re-sticker the exact same part for more money. Probably start off with the second, and then if the return isn't great enough, become the primary brand.

Reality is all batteries have gone down hill in recent years and the warranties have matched the slide.

That said, I've got AGM ac delcos in the mustangs these days. The OEM motorcrafts sucked. A lot of the GT350s were selling with 390cca batteries in them.. wtf? Some plain GTs got a 590... still not great. At least my delcos in the cars now are close to 800cca.

I bought a die hard about 7 years ago and installed it in the 2010 Camaro SS. Hooked it to a battery tender junior and haven't had any issues with it since. It's the AGM style. I bought it from Sears. I didn't have to change it out, but got a great deal on it.

Of course, now is Die Hard just a decal? In the good old days, Die Hards had their own specs. Likely that'll just be in name only now.

Had a Delco AGM battery in the 2010 GMC truck after the original factory battery started to croak on me 3 years ago. 7 yrs for a factory battery isn't bad.

Are they all the same? I know the AutoCraft AGM batteries from Auto Zone ( I think that's the brand) are the same exact battery as the Delco ones with a different sticker.
