Difference in rear sway bars.

I have Hellwig sway bars on my Monte and I have always used the rears with the hump.

I agree. Hellwig makes a great product that is priced right. Bigger is not always better as Front to Back must be balanced. Rear sway bars that mount to the control arms should be avoided. The factory F41 bars mount to the control arms.

I went out & measured both bars. The long one is .85", short is ."75. Only got the pic of the long, camara batteries died. My short came with the "new" frame ('86 SS) & the long I got in a junk yard off a Hurst/Olds about 25 years ago.
Thanks for all the info. Both of the ones I got measure .875 or 7/8". Looks like I'll use the short one and sell the long.

Yes. Unless you're doing a full restoration back to factory stock do not waste your money on sway bars that attach to the control arms. The UMI bar is also a good option but if memory serves me is more expensive.

I recall a thread a while back that showed the S10 rear sway bar was frame mounted and would fit on our cars. Anyone else familiar with this or have this setup on their car now?

Edit: I have in my notes that the one stated to use is from a 98-05 S10 2dr 4WD. Its a 1" bar. Unsure if this is correct or not.
