I would use position A or B. A stock canister can provide up to 20º or more of vacuum advance, and it may (or may not) be too much for your motor. The only way to know for sure is trial & error. Set your total timing around 32º-36º (no vacuum connected & bring rpm to 3200-3500 to make sure it's at full mechanical advance). Try it without it first and see if it knocks at all (if it's a 9:1 motor be sure to use regular gas, anything above it is wasting energy). If it does, try each of the 4 ranges of the limiter... start with the 14º-17º and go down from there if you need to.

I've made one of these for my stock HEI using a grinder and a scrap piece of sheetmetal I had laying around... best $0 I ever spent.

Another question....I put my distributer in with #1 piston at tdc but the roter in distributer does not point at #1 cilinder is this a prob....or can I just use the post it now points at as #1 post and go around from there....I set timing like....crank dot at 12 o'clock and cam wheel dot at 6 o'clock the gave full rotation to put them both at 12 o'clock .....do you think my moter is gonna start when I'm ready to fire it up???

Yup, to everything. If you have a timing pointer that will go up to 15º TDC, rotate until the pointer is pointing there instead of 0º, rotate the cap until it is firing on #1, and you'll be good to go. Some fine tuning may be needed for best performance, but that will get you very close, and it should fire right up after it gets gas.
