Do I really need a relay for a after market horn?

if you broke this part why not just change it...

or if you change the horn and use the existing wiring there is a relay

Cancelling cams do break on occasion. Go to your HELP aisle at your local auto parts store and buy a replacement...they're cheap and should take care of your horn issue.
I'm sure you can connect your new horn to the existing horn circuit.

Once the wheel is off, they're easy to replace.

Ahhh....the lockplate....forgot about that. That requires a specific tool to compress the spring and remove the lock ring.
