I I'm tryin to build a basic engine on my 305sbc do I really need the vacuum canister and all those lines that run to it? Or can I take it out I took off alot already ( don't have to worry about smog) but yea do I really need it? Thanks

No.
Took mine off and removed all the smog stuff and its runs just fine.
Little finicky in colder weather is about it.

That stuff is always good for causing a vacuum line nightmare.....
Oh, and dead weight too...

After I take it out do I have to cap off the lines that went to the carb? And 1 line looks like it goes to the power steering ??

Yup. Plug em. Or you'll have a vacuum leak.

Depending where you live, you may need the stuff to keep the car emission legal. Check the local laws in your area before you get rid of it. Just my $0.02.

I don't have to worry About all that smog stuff so I'm good .. But my main concern is the line that goes to the carb and the vacume canister just cap it off? And the line that goes down looks like some how it has to do with the power steering just cap that too??
